About the event

What makes a scene truly funny? And more importantly, how do you write it that way?

This masterclass is an introduction to the craft of screen comedy, designed for anyone curious about writing humour that feels natural, sharp, and effective on screen. Rohit Nair will break down the building blocks of comedy and understand the psychology behind why certain moments land while others fall flat.

Through a guided exploration, you’ll look at how your own sense of humour can translate into writing, and how to turn instinct into something intentional on the page. The session will also include a discussion of iconic comedic scenes, unpacking what works, what doesn’t, and the subtle choices that make all the difference.

This is a space to understand comedy not just as a feeling, but as a craft you can learn, practice, and shape into your own voice.

Rohit Nair (writer, Call Me Bae S1 & S2 | AIB First Draft | Ex‑Content Lead, Maddock Films).
