About the event

To the filmmakers, writers, actors, and music lovers who have ever wondered why some songs stay with us long after the film ends, this one’s for you.

Songs in cinema do far more than fill space between scenes. They reveal what characters cannot say, deepen emotion, advance the story, and often become some of the most memorable moments in a film. In this 4-hour workshop, Storytelling Through Songs, filmmaker and writer Devanshu Singh explores how music functions as a powerful storytelling tool across Indian and international cinema.

Through film clips, discussions, and scene analysis, participants will learn how songs shape narrative, character, theme, and mood, and how to use them more intentionally while writing, directing, or performing. Whether you’re developing a script, studying cinema, or simply fascinated by the relationship between music and storytelling, this workshop offers a deeper way of understanding the songs we love.
