Satyanshu Singh presents Masterclass: Writing Short Films with Ipek Ghashghaie

Short films are often seen as a stepping stone to feature films and TV/OTT series because of their limited commercial reach.

However, they are much more than that. They are a strong and independent medium with a distinct style and language. Even well-known commercial filmmakers have been drawn to them, and many have found it challenging because of the freedom it offers in storytelling, technical & creative departments, also the scope for experimental approaches despite the shorter duration.

In this workshop, we will cover the basics of screenwriting and explore how to use these tools to write a short film as a powerful and meaningful art form.

To support this process, students will be asked to watch a curated selection of short films from different regions, eras, cultures, and genres in advance, so that we can draw from a shared pool of references and engage in more focused

discussions during the workshop.
