Intro to Oil Painting

Oil painting can seem intimidating to begin with, even for experienced artists. Between unfamiliar materials, mediums and techniques, it often feels far more complicated than it really is.

Led by Durga Chatterjee, this introductory workshop breaks the process down into simple, approachable steps. You'll learn the fundamentals of working with oils; from stretching a canvas, understanding materials and colour mixing to layering and building a painting, leaving with the confidence to continue exploring the medium on your own.

Designed for complete beginners and artists curious about making the switch, this is a relaxed, hands-on session where questions are encouraged and experimentation is celebrated. Materials will be provided so if you've been waiting for the right moment to try oils, let this be the push you need to make the switch.
