Attraction Disrupted: Sensorial Dating for Queers

We spend most of our dating lives looking at photographs and reading bios, making decisions about human beings based on the thinnest possible slice of who they actually are. Sensorial Dating is an experiment in doing it differently.

This is an immersive evening designed around the science of attraction — the parts of it that happen below the level of conscious thought, in the body rather than the mind.

When you walk in, you will be given a mask. You will wear it for most of the evening. This is deliberate. When sight is removed or reduced, the other senses sharpen. You notice things you would otherwise scroll past.

Over the course of the night, you will encounter each of your matches through smell, touch, hearing, first and then sight, and taste, if you wish to. You will not be asked to make conversation before you have felt something. You will not be asked to look before you have listened.

By the end of the evening, you will know things about the bodies of the people you have met that a hundred dates at a bar could not have given you.

Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the event.
