Improv with Durga

Join us for an evening of movement, play and exploration. The only goal of this session is simple: keep moving.

There is no choreography to learn and no right or wrong way to move. Through a series of guided prompts, you will be encouraged to listen to your body, create shapes, respond to the space around you and discover new ways of moving. Together, we will shift between slow and fast rhythms, moments of stillness and moments of release, allowing the body to stretch, relax and find its own sense of ease.

The improvisation comes from not knowing what movement comes next. Rather than following set steps, participants will respond to prompts, environments and one another, creating spontaneous interactions and unexpected movement. The session is designed to be accessible, playful and supportive. No prior dance experience is required; whether you are a trained dancer or have never stepped into a dance class before, you are welcome to join.

Come prepared to move, sweat a little, and spend an evening connecting with your body in a new way. Please wear comfortable clothing and be ready to step onto the dance floor.

Facilitated by Durga Chatterjee, a multidisciplinary artist and movement practitioner whose background in Bharatanatyam informs an ongoing exploration of movement and contemporary performance through a new lens.
